Crested Butte Sitzmark, CBS (a.k.a. Crazy Bunch of Skiers) Trip Recap

16 Sitzmarkers all arrived safely with no delays on Saturday. The final group arrived at the Plaza Condos at 8pm. We grabbed beers and food at the bar in our condo building before they closed. We ate quickly as they mopped the floors around us. We learned that most restaurants and bars close at 9pm. We woke up Sunday to beautiful weather to begin a great week of skiing. It was spring skiing with bluebird days and warm temps. Yes, they needed more snow. Sorry, powder hounds but groomed runs were great. The double black runs were closed but on a positive note, no lift lines and many runs to yourself. Best part was Jose's at the bottom of the hill, $2 PBR's. Thanks Bill for that find.They even had a DJ on Thursday and Friday. It quickly became our gathering place at the end of a ski day. Sunday night we had our welcome party. Thanks Marta for organizing and purchasing wine, beer and munchies. Our new members, Marc & Heidi, had a chance to meet everyone. Monday night a group gathered at Bruhaus for dinner in town. Thanks to Barb for organizing. We also discovered Montanya Distillers. It's a fun rum bar, amazing drinks and humorous servers. Wednesday night was spa night at Jeanne, Paul and Marta's condo. Marta purchased a variety of moisturizing masks for our dry, and a few of us with sunburn faces. Unfortunately she had to leave us but there are pictures. Before we knew it, Friday was here and our last day of skiing. It actually snowed overnight and finally some well needed fresh powder. We once again gathered for a leftover party at Jeanne and Paul's condo. Thank you for hosting and for all who brought delicious leftovers, especially the chicken in wine sauce. Suddenly it was Saturday morning and early shuttle pick up for those on the 9am flight. Thus began the travel day from hell. Due to storms across the country, flights were canceled and delayed. Luckily Gunnison has a nice bar at the airport. Who had the biggest bar bill?? Eventually everyone made it home. Some even with luggage, skis and boot bags. Thanks to everyone for contributing to make this trip so much fun. It's all of us working together that makes our ski club work.
